Something that has been concerning me for a good while now is the seeming de-evolution of PvP in MMOs. WoW in particular, but since every game copies WoW now, it is bleeding into every title.
It seems with each WoW patch that attempts to make PvP more significant, it does the opposite. The honor system turned PvP into a grind. Battlegrounds (instances) eliminated what little sort of territory capture there was in the game. Honor loss for killing civilians eliminated city raiding. Cross server battlegrounds made every victory meaningless and empty -- every kill became nameless and faceless -- player rivalries died. The honor system revamp just prior to TBC made losing more desirable than winning for many people, and therefore the fools you are forced to ally with sabotage your efforts to win. And last but not least, the PvP "end game" that is the arena is nothing more than a sterilized form of group dueling. The entire end game of WoW's PvP is nothing more than you and a buddy trying to pillar hump better than the other team, with your reward handed to you by a goblin in a tuxedo.
With all the effort Blizzard puts into making WoW an "eSport," one would think that Blizzard would care about the PvP of their game. If they do, they sure have a funny way of showing it. While the arena may get all the glory, battlegrounds have by far more participation from the player base, and yet they have been all but ignored for the past 3 years. The same old ridiculous imbalances remain, and choke the fun out of the game, turning battlegrounds into a tedious frustrating grind that encourages AFKing.

I could use some assistance testing new versions of some of my addons. If any of you would like to help test pre-release versions of my addons, please register and let me know. My being the only one testing my code is slowing down releases and causing bugs to be missed.
